“I feel that way no matter who is president,” the billionaire Berkshire Hathaway Inc. chairman and chief executive officer said Thursday in New York at the premiere of a documentary about his life. “The CEO -- which I am -- should have the ability to pick people that help you run a place.”
Buffett, 86, backed Hillary Clinton in the U.S. presidential election, stumping for her in Omaha, Nebraska, and headlining fundraisers. The billionaire frequently clashed with Trump and scolded him for not releasing income-tax returns, as major party presidential candidates have done for roughly four decades.
Trump’s cabinet picks include Treasury Secretary nominee Steven Mnuchin, a former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. banker; former Exxon Mobil Corp. CEO Rex Tillerson as secretary of state; and retired Marine Corps General James Mattis as Defense secretary.
Trump’s Popularity
That message hasn’t resonated. Trump’s popularity is the worst for an incoming president in at least four decades, with just 40 percent of Americans saying they have a favorable impression of him, according to a Washington Post-ABC poll published Tuesday. Buffett said on Thursday that the low approval ratings won’t matter
“It’s what you go out with that counts -- 20, 50 years later what people feel you’ve achieved,” Buffett said.
The president-elect has continued his pugnacious style during the transition, picking fights on Twitter with news outlets, automakers, defense contractors, intelligence agencies, Hollywood actress Meryl Streep and civil rights hero-turned-U.S. Congressman John Lewis.
Buffett spoke on the red carpet at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The documentary, “Becoming Warren Buffett,” chronicles how the billionaire investor amassed one of the world’s largest fortunes and later decided to give the bulk of his wealth to charity. The film will air this month on HBO.
“If they work 40 hours a week, they should have a decent life,” Buffett said. “That’s the most important thing in terms of the economy.”

Samsung to announce cause of Galaxy Note 7 fire on January 23
Samsung Electronics said today it will announce on January 23 the reason
why its Galaxy Note 7 smartphones overheated and caught fire.
The announcement will be livestreamed in Chinese, English and Korean on
its websites. Koh Dong-jin, Samsung's mobile president, will give
details of the probe.
The Galaxy Note 7 was a fiasco for the world's largest smartphone maker.
Samsung recalled and eventually discontinued it after numerous reports
of it overheating and bursting into flames.
Initially, Samsung said it found a small error in the manufacturing
process for some of the batteries in the phones was to blame.
It replaced the phones with a new battery but those replaced phones also
overheated and caught fire, prompting Samsung to pull the phones from
the market. That cost Samsung at least USD 5 billion.
The announcement comes after a South Korean court dismissed yesterday a
request by prosecutors to arrest Samsung Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong
heir.
Lee, the conglomerate's heir and de facto head, is under investigation
for alleged bribery in connection with an influence-peddling scandal
that led to the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye.

The Donald Trump
Administration is likely to offer a bilateral trade deal to India that
could be a "win-win situation" for the two countries, sources said.
Arguing that the President-elect does not believe in multilateral trade
deals and is against them, the sources said his administration is
interested in a bilateral trade deal with India that could be a "win-win
situation" for the two countries, the two sources said.
However, the offer of first such trade deal could go to the United
Kingdom, a close ally of America. Once that is finalized, the Trump
Administration is expected to engage India on a similar bilateral trade
deal offer, they said.
The development comes hours before Trump is sworn in as the 45th
President of the United States.
"I think the President's message on trade has been fairly clear. He is
going to fight for American workers and American manufacturing. And
that's going to be the number one thing that guides him going forward,"
incoming White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters.
"He (Trump) has talked about bilateral deals, but he's going to make
sure that every deal he cuts, just like he did in business puts American
workers and American manufacturing, American services, America first,"
he said in response to a question on China.
India did not figure on his remarks on trade related question.
"So whether it's China or any other country, that's going to be the
priority. But with respect to China alone, it's a huge market place for
American workers and small businesses.
You look at the commitment that Ali Baba made the other day when they
met with him, talking about increasing access to small businesses,"
Spicer said.
He said it is important that individuals who might have a craft or a
product that they're working at home or maybe it's just a small
business, have the opportunity to access those market places that at one
point might be too far for them to reach, but might get avaulable
through the.
Trump is going to continue to fight whether it's the Chinese market or
other places around the globe for market access, he added.
"But again the guiding principle is always going to be the American
worker and American manufacturing," Spicer said.
